MATH101A Math Thinking with Recitation (4 credits) - Presents mathematical topics and applications in a context designed to promote quantitative reasoning and the use of mathematics in solving problems and making decisions. It is suitable for majors in humanities and education and for others seeking a broad view of mathematics. This includes a 1-credit recitation aimed at providing just-in-time review of mathematical concepts in support of the content in MAT101.

MATH110A Concepts of Arithmetic and Number Systems with Recitation (5 credits) - Provides a survey of mathematics aimed at developing skills in the use of numbers, number patterns and operations with numbers for preservice teachers of grades PK-4.  Problem solving, sets and number systems are emphasized.  Other topics covered are patterns and sequences, elementary number theory and historic number systems.  Problem solving methods and manipulatives are used where appropriate.  This includes a 2-credit recitation providing just-in-time review of algebraic concepts in support of the content in MATH110.

MATH113A Concepts of Geometry and Statistics with Recitation (5) - Provides a survey of mathematics aimed at developing skills in the use of basic geometry, probability, and statistics for preservice teachers of grades PK-4. Conceptual models and representations are used throughout the course.   This class includes a 2-credit recitation providing just-in-time review of concepts in support of the content in MATH113.

MATH118A College Algebra with Recitation (5 credits) - Introduces fundamental algebraic concepts and develops the mathematical and computation skills necessary to apply algebraic techniques to problems in business, economics, the social and natural sciences, and the liberal arts. This includes a 2-credit recitation aimed at providing just-in-time review of algebraic concepts in support of the content in MAT118

MATH120A Mathematics for the Health Sciences with Recitation (4 credits) - Develops the mathematical and computational skills necessary to apply mathematical techniques to problems in the health sciences. Topics include fundamental concepts of algebra, geometry, probability and statistics, measurements, functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, systems of equations and data fitting. This includes a 1-credit recitation aimed at providing just-in-time review of concepts in support of the content in MAT120, some of which may include solving equations, unit conversions, basic statistics, and functions.

MATH130A Finite Mathematics with Recitation (4 credits) - Presents an introduction to binary numbers, hexadecimal numbers, logic, counting techniques, sets, probability, sequences, and finite summations.  This includes a 1-credit recitation aimed at providing just-in-time review of algebraic concepts in support of the content in MAT130.

STAT141A Introduction to Statistics with Recitation (5 credits) - Provides an introduction to descriptive and inferential statistics.  Topics covered include numerical and graphical summary procedures, basic probability concepts, random variables and distributions, the Central Limit Theorem, confidence intervals, and hypothesis testing. The course contains two credits of extra support for students who did not place into Introduction to Statistics (STA 141).  Completion of this course will allow the student to take any class with Introduction to Statistics (STA 141) as a prerequisite.

WRIT101 Foundations in Composition (3 credits) - Offers opportunities to compose a variety of texts for different situations with attention to purpose, audience, context, and conventions. Students will practice analysis and critical reading and thinking with emphasis on college-level research skills and will develop effective processes for reading, writing, and research.  Designed for students who nearly meet the placement criteria for WRIT 103 or for students who self-select in order to receive additional support in a required 1-credit corequisite course.

WRIT102 Foundations in Composition Lab (1 credit) - Supports students taking WRIT 101 to fulfill the requirement for a foundational writing class. Focuses on practicing reading and writing strategies as well as self-efficacy, self-regulation, and metacognition. Provides opportunities for hands-on reading and writing activities, goal setting, reflection, and peer tutoring support. Students must pass WRIT 101 in the same semester in order to pass WRIT 102.
